Renting a private yacht in Cancun is simple once you know one thing: how many people are coming. Every yacht has a maximum number of guests allowed on board, and that number — more than the length in feet — is what narrows down your options. Here is a practical guide to choosing the right size, using our real fleet of yachts from 27 to 120 ft.
Step 1: Count Your Guests (Including Kids)
Capacity counts every passenger, children included. Our yachts, grouped by how many guests they take:
- 🛥️ Up to 8 guests: 27 ft Sultan — ideal for couples, proposals and small families
- 🛥️ 10–12 guests: 38 ft Lady Blanca, 44 ft Perfect Game, 41 ft White Dreams and 44 ft Blue Fin
- 🛥️ Up to 15 guests: 44 ft Humble, 45 ft At The Moment, 50 ft Octopus, 54 ft Sea Lion and 55 ft Zipsie
- 🛥️ 20–23 guests: 64 ft Stela Maris, 70 ft Addicted and 50 ft Carpe Diem
- 🛥️ Up to 30 guests: 51 ft Blondie and the 120 ft Viva La Vida superyacht
- 🛥️ Up to 45 guests: 48 ft Eolo
Good to know: these are the maximum capacities. On the larger yachts (Stela Maris, Addicted, Carpe Diem, Blondie, Viva La Vida and Eolo) the base price includes fewer guests, and each additional guest up to the maximum has a per-person supplement — every yacht page shows exactly how many are included.
Bigger groups? A catamaran is usually the better fit — see our catamarans, which take much larger groups.
Step 2: Don't Book Right at the Limit
The maximum is a safety limit, not a comfort target. If you are 12 people, a yacht for 15 will feel noticeably roomier than one for exactly 12 — more shade to share, more space to lie in the sun, and an easier time moving around while the boat is under way.
Step 3: Pick the Length of Your Trip
Our yachts sail for 4 to 8 hours (the Viva La Vida is booked as a full 8-hour day). As a rule of thumb:
- ⏱️ 4 hours: a relaxed cruise along the Hotel Zone with a swim or snorkel stop
- ⏱️ 6–8 hours: enough time to reach Isla Mujeres, anchor in calm water and spend real time on the island
Prices are per yacht, not per person, so a longer day for a bigger group often works out well per guest. Each yacht page shows the price for every duration.
Step 4: Match the Yacht to the Occasion
- 💍 Proposal or anniversary: a small yacht keeps it intimate
- 🎂 Birthday or bachelor/bachelorette: mid-size yachts (15–23 guests) leave room for music and dancing
- 🏢 Company outing or big family day: 30–45 guests, or a catamaran for larger groups
- ✨ A once-in-a-lifetime day: the 120 ft Viva La Vida
